Seething Wells, Kingston, is the most important site in the Borough for bats. It is the site of a Daubenton's Bat Maternity colony, something that is rare in London. A Planning Application has been submitted to develop the site, and provide floating housing on the filter beds.

London Bat Group member, Alison Fure, has created a blog about Seething Wells and the Planning Application which is linked to below

Pete Guest Award: This year’s award was presented at the National Bat Conference at the University of Warwick in September. The winners were Peter and Maggie Andrews. Sadly Peter passed away in June, but Maggie collected the award and gave a talk on Peter’s remarkable and pioneering work, which included constructing his own bat detectors and automatic bat counters which are still installed at a number of sites. This award is presented annually to individuals who have made an outstanding practical contribution to bat conservation. The award is presented in memory of Pete Guest, who was an inspirational figure in bat conservation for more than 20 years and was a key member of LBG. The criteria for the award include: dedication, innovation, enthusiasm and inspiration in making a difference, both to bats and to people, helping make BCT’s vision become a reality.
